A live edge dining table...or is it?

Recently, our we had the pleasure of creating a custom dining table for a lovely local couple. The commission was a joy to work on, and we're thrilled with the results.

The couple came to us with a clear vision. They wanted something unique and modern, yet classic and timeless. They had a particular love for the beauty of aged wood and requested that it be the centerpiece of their table.
To begin with we consulted with the client to establish their preference and budget. This included the size of the table , the types of wood available , the finish, and finally the options available for the base.

We presented a quote along with our ideas to the client, which included a fake live edge detail to make the piece stand out and a beautiful set of black steel legs.

Once we had the clients go ahead, we ordered in the materials from our trusted suppliers, including the timber and hardware, in this case it included legs from a regular supplier of ours, The Hairpin Leg Company.

From there the lumber was machined to the required dimensions before the table was assembled, sanded and finished to the client's specifications. This included the stand out element, the addition of the "fake" like edge detail which was created using a special technique that mimics the natural irregularities of a tree's edge along with adding an aged look to the table top itself.

A few images were exchanged with the client at this point, to ensure the client was happy before it was ready to collect. Allowing for any last minute alterations if necessary, fortunately non were on this occasion.

Overall, this commission was a delight to work on, the end product was a dining table that is truly unique, a beautiful and functional piece that can be enjoyed for years to come, and is sure to be a conversation starter at any dinner party or family gathering.

Thanks to Calvin and his partner for giving us the opportunity to work on this one.
