Engineered Oak Chopping Block
A substantial engineered oak chopping block with solid oak faces, a moisture-resistant core and matte black handles, designed to combine presence, practicality and stability.
Behind the build
This custom chopping block was designed to have the presence of a large solid oak slab, while using a more considered engineered construction underneath.
The outside is wrapped in solid oak, with 10mm oak to the main faces and 20mm oak to the ends, all trimmed and finished with clean lines and softened edges. At the centre is a moisture-resistant MDF core, helping to keep the finished piece more stable while also reducing the amount of solid oak required.
The board was finished by hand with our food-safe board butter to bring out the natural colour and grain, then fitted with matte black powder-coated handles to make a substantial piece easier to lift and move.
The result was a bold, practical chopping block with the look and feel of a much heavier solid timber build, but with a smarter construction hidden beneath the surface.
