This bespoke herringbone coffee table was made for a repeat client, combining a patterned timber top with copper hairpin legs for a simple, contemporary finish.
The herringbone layout gives the tabletop plenty of character, with each individual section of timber helping to create the overall pattern. Rather than covering that detail, the table was finished with liming wax to achieve the pale, whitewashed effect the client wanted while still allowing the grain and variation in the timber to show through.
Copper hairpin legs from The Hairpin Leg Company were chosen to complete the piece, adding a warmer contrast against the light tabletop and keeping the overall design slim and uncluttered.
The finished table is a practical everyday piece with a distinctive look — combining the texture of the herringbone top, the soft limed finish and the copper legs into something both stylish and functional.
