A handmade redwood side table designed to complement an industrial-style lamp, combining a black-stained frame, natural timber surfaces and clean floating-tenon joinery.
Behind the build
This handmade side table was designed to sit alongside a bold industrial-style lamp, with the proportions and finish chosen to make the two pieces feel like they belonged together.
The frame was made from redwood and finished with a deep black stain, while the top and lower shelf were cut from higher-grade redwood selected for its cleaner grain and minimal defects. A natural oil finish brought out the warmer tone of the timber and created a nice contrast against the darker frame.
Floating tenon joinery was used throughout to keep the construction strong without relying on visible fixings, helping the finished piece stay simple and uncluttered.
Everything was sized around the lamp itself, resulting in a compact side table with a clean industrial feel and just enough contrast to give it some character.
