Behind the build
This striped chopping board was made from a simple combination of Sapele and English Ash, using the natural contrast between the darker and lighter timbers to create a clean, balanced pattern.
Each strip was cut and arranged carefully before glue-up to keep the spacing and contrast consistent across the full length of the board.
Once assembled, the surface was sanded smooth and finished by hand with our food-safe board finish to protect the timber and deepen the natural colour of both species.
The finished board was practical, durable and full of character — made for everyday use, but with enough contrast to stand out on the worktop.
